Try to Love Again

I have great heaviness and continued dejection in my heart because my love has betrothed another. How much longer will my soul pour sorrow from its wounds? How much longer will people gape upon me with open mouths? How long shall my wounded passion exalt itself against me? I am poured out unto the flesh like water and my heart is like wax melted to the ground. My strength and my confidence have left me, my tongue has lost its will to speak, and my soul has been brought down unto death for I am desolate and exasperated. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins (Psalms 25:17-18 KJV).
We have all struggled with lost loves and the pain of an early ending to a dream-filled future because of a broken relationship. As Jesus Christ hung from the cross, hands and feet pierced, barely clinging to life, He spoke: My heart pants, my strength fails me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. My love and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off (Psalms 38:10-11). Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: mine adversaries are all before thee. Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink (Psalms 69:19-21 KJV).
We have struggled with relationships all our lives. Nothing ever seemed to work out, and our past is a shipwreck of broken dreams. We have become so disheartened that we forget to eat. Or eat way too much! We would have given anything to win his/her heart, but there was always someone there to separate us to the point that we have given all that we have. The first hurt is the hardest so we try again to no avail. Is there something wrong with us or is the world a cesspool of broken bonds? We are simply placing the cart before the horse, which will never work. We have to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ through daily Bible study and prayer before we enter the world of relationships with others, because even though we don’t realize it we are the called.
There is a kind of love that no man understands, a love that comes from the Father of spirits, a love that is based solely on the heart of another and a love that comes from the ancient times of a spirit world past. It is called agape or the love of God. It is a love that paid the ultimate price for our existence. A love that is founded on truth, righteousness, and justice, and it is a love so near you that when I speak of it you can feel your heart groan with despair. Separation anxiety fills the empty void in your soul, so try to love again. This time with someone you can trust. Someone who has paid the price for a relationship with you, and Someone who knows every intimate detail of your life. I speak from Biblical knowledge and personal experience for I lived part of my life separated from God, and found that my friends and my relationships were of no value because they didn’t last. So unchain the door of your heart, open up all the windows, and let the Son shine in, and try to love again.
You are not here by accident. If you are reading this it is because you have been called upon by the Lord. You have been chosen into the family of God. The choice is yours. There is no pressure, but there is urgency because time will not stand still for anyone. He says to you, Come unto me, all you who have a broken heart that through Me you shall find rest for your soul. Lean on me because I am meek and lowly in heart: For, the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalms 34:18-19 NKJV).
God is with you. He is there inside your heart waiting on you to come to Him. Won’t you please come to Christ today? It is a very simple process and it all starts with a prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I believe Jesus Christ is your Son who sacrificed Himself on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe that through Him I can restore the relationship I had with You from times past. Please come into my heart and teach me to love again. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray. Amen.
